Life at Hospitality Apartments
Over the past 40 years Hospitality Apartments has served more
that 6,200 Guests from every state in the United States, except
Rhode Island, and 65 countries around the world.  Although they
come from many different places, they discover that they all have
at least one common bond - a major health care crisis.  Because
all our Guests face this same challenge, often times new bonds
of friendship develop while they are here.  Over a three month
stay you get to know a lot of the other Guests and the emotions
they are going through.  You will discover that you are not alone.
We try to provide a healthy, safe and supportive environment for
all Guests during this time of need.

Each month different church organizations come to the Community
Room of Hospitality Apartments and put on a dinner
for all Guests and their Caregivers who choose to attend.  Each church
sponsor group is a little different.  Some just do the dinner and others
also provide games and entertainment.  Sometimes instead of a
dinner, there is an Ice Cream Social or other event built around food
and fellowship.  These events mean a lot to the Guests.  It gives them a
chance to laugh and smile and enjoy the company of others in the
middle of their pain.  A couple of nights each month, Hospitality
Apartments sponsors Bingo Night for our Guests and Caregivers with
fun and prizes for all.  These events are well attended and very popular
with the Guests.  Notices are posted before each event so Guests
know about the event well in advance.
Special Dinners, Ice Cream Socials, Bingo
It is not unusual for Guests or Caregivers to come to us and ask if
there is anything they can do to help.  The answer is YES.  Since we
are an all volunteer organization, there is always something to be done
either in our office area or around our grounds.  Over the years both
Guests and Caregivers have helped in many ways with things like
maintenance, cutting the grass, painting, carpet cleaning, window
cleaning, gardening, and office work (just to mention a few).  If you are
a Guest or Caregiver and want to volunteer, stop by the Office and let
us know or talk to one of our Volunteer Managers and let them know of
your desire to help.  We appreciate all the help we can get.

Each Sunday, lay ministers from several churches take turns bringing

those who desire to receive it.  The office can give you additional details.
Sunday Church Services
If you desire to go to a local Sunday Church Service here in Houston,
check with the office.  Some office volunteers have volunteered to
pick-up and take Guests and Caregivers to church on Sunday.  If you
would like to do this, please let the office know several days in
advance and we will have the volunteer get in touch with you directly to
make all arrangements.
Theater Tickets
The AD Players here in Houston is an outstanding Theater
Performance Group that performs many outstanding productions live
on stage.  The founder and director, Jeannette Clift George, has
graciously offered free theater tickets to Guests and Caregivers at
Hospitality Apartments.  If you are up for a night of wonderful
entertainment, please stop by the office and make your request for
theater tickets to the current stage production.

Bread Making Classes with Joe Hightower
Joe Hightower, President of HRDF, is an accomplished bread
maker.  His gift to each new Guest is a loaf of homemade sour
dough bread.  So many of our Guests have asked Joe about his
bread making.  In response, he put together a class on bread
making which he offers to Guests and Caregiver every so often.
These classes are held in the Hospitality Apartments Community
Room Kitchen.  Each class is well attended.  Class members have a
lot of fun and learn how to make wonderful homemade sour dough
bread.  Check with the office for more details.
