HRDF (Human Resources Development Foundation, operator of Hospitality
Apartments) is an all volunteer organization, including volunteer resident
managers (apartments E-31 and E-41). Please let us know if there's anything we
can do to help make your stay more enjoyable. Let us know if you would like to
help us maintain the facilities while you are here.
- Apartments are provided rent-free to Texas Medical Center Patients and
their Caregivers. However, a $45 "cleaning fee" is due at check-in.
- Each Patient MUST be accompanied by a caregiver for the entire length of
stay
- The maximum length of stay is three months. If a longer period is required
for treatments, a Guest may place his name on the Wait List after departure
and will be eligible to return to an apartment three months after departure,
depending on Waiting List ranking.
- The maximum number of people staying overnight in the apartment is four.
Overnight visitors must sign the logbook in the Community Room.
- Guests may be absent from their apartment for not more than a total of
three consecutive nights (not including time spent in the hospital with the
Patient) without giving up the apartment. Guests must inform the office in
writing when they will be gone overnight, staying in the hospital etc. This
can be done by entering the event in the logbook for Guest absences,
found in the Community Room.
- Parking passes (available in the office) must be displayed in all vehicles
parked in the parking lots. One vehicle per apartment is allowed in the
parking lots. Car washing is not allowed in the parking lots.
- Management may access apartments for maintenance, monthly
extermination, etc.
- There are no facilities for children. Visiting children (1 to under 18 years
old) are allowed to stay in an apartment no more than three nights in any 30-
day period and must be kept under strict supervision. Families disruptive
to the environment will be asked to leave.
- Designated quiet hours are from 10 pm until 7 am. However, loud behavior
is discouraged at any hour. Do not talk loudly or play radio loudly outdoors.
Do not use the laundry room during quiet hours. Also, please remember
that "one man's floor is another man's ceiling."
- Smoking is not allowed inside any building or apartment, on the
patio, nor in the stairwells or parking lots. Smoking is only
permitted on the fourth floor walkway between the east and west
apartment buildings. Extinguished smoking materials must be properly
disposed of in the containers provided or in the dumpster. A Guest or
Caregiver smoking in an apartment will be asked to leave.
- Alcohol consumption is only permitted inside the apartments.
- No pets of any kind are allowed in the apartments or on the grounds.
- No firearms or weapons of any kind are allowed in the apartments or on the
grounds.
- Keep windows and apartment door closed while the air conditioning/heat is
turned on. The thermostats have been set at a temperature designed to
conserve energy. If you need to adjust the thermostat, please see the
information binder in your apartment for instructions or ask in the office.
- Do not tack or tape items to walls or doors. Use magnets to hold papers
on metal surfaces. Don't use hooks or nails.
- Put trash/garbage in plastic bags and deposit them in the dumpster (near
elevators).
- Information about additional maid service (during stay), at Guest's expense,
is available in the office.
- Information about phone service, at Guest's expense, is available in the
office.
- When getting ready to depart, Guests should inform the office of estimated
departure date and time. If necessary, they should fill out a change of
address form, available in the office or at the post office, and cancel phone
service. The apartment should be tidied before leaving and trash emptied.
Keys should be returned to the office or placed in the key drop box on the
north office wall.
- Hospitality Apartments reserves the right to refuse housing to anyone whom
they believe would be disruptive to the Guests or operation of Hospitality
Apartments or detrimental to the purpose or ministry of Hospitality
Apartments. Each applicant for an apartment, by making an application,
acknowledges this disclosure.
- Please read information binder in the apartment for more
information.
